How do you price your watches?

Our prices may be slightly higher than other watches you may find on the Internet, but this is due to our exhaustive restoration process. When one of our master watchmakers finishes with the restoration of an individual piece it is timed to within factory specs, or better, in all original, rated positions, for that particular timepiece. We use only original parts, the case is polished to the best finish we can attain, the crystal is blemish free, worn crowns are replaced, telescopic pins are replaced, the balance wheel is poised, the cannon pinion tightened, the escapement is adjusted, the train pivots are burnished, the watch is put in-beat, worn stems are replaced, mainsprings are replaced, etc. In short, every watch we sell is fully restored and bench tested before we ship it to you. We also warranty our watches for one full year without an extra charge that some other dealers demand. Included in our price is a good quality watch band at no extra charge.

Are your watches warranted?

Yes, all of our timepieces carry a full one year warranty, parts and labor. View our warranty terms.

What about sales taxes?

Illinois residents must add 10.25% sales tax, or provide us with a resale or exemption certificate. All other states will not be charged sales tax. International customers will be responsible for any duties or fees levied by their individual countries, as we do not get involved with these fees, so please inquire at your local customs concerning these duties.

What about returns?

We offer a 3 day return privilege for watches purchased on the internet for all Domestic Customers.  All sales are final for International Customers due to the high transit costs and duties.

All in-store sales are final.

All watches are sold in restored, running condition and must be returned in the same condition to receive a refund less a 10% restocking charge. You have three days from the time that you take delivery of the watch to return it. You must call us during this time period to alert us and return the watch within the time period. Proper packaging and shipping costs remain your responsibility. The watch must be packaged in the original carton we will send you and insulated with bubble-wrap just as it was sent to you, so save the packaging materials once the watch arrives because you may need it to send the watch in for service in the future.

Are your watches waterproof?

We endeavor to provide every advantage that a waterproof watch or a water resistant watch has to offer by changing the gaskets and using silicone grease to close the cases, but we do not warranty the watches against water damage under any circumstances due to their age. Under no circumstances should a vintage watch be submerged or allowed to get soaked.

Can I visit your shop?

We welcome your visit during shop hours: The hours at Father Time Antiques in Chicago,IL at 2108 W. Belmont Ave. are Wed. through Sun. Noon till 5 PM. We are closed Mon. & Tues.

What happens if I drop my watch or get it wet?

Dropping a mechanical watch usually causes the balance staff to break or become damaged. This is not covered under the warranty because it constitutes abuse that is under your control. However, we can repair the watch so all is not lost. Getting the watch wet also constitutes abuse not covered under the warranty, but again, we can repair water damage if you get the watch to us ASAP.

May I make you an offer on one of your watches?

Our pricing policy remains, and always has been, firm. You may spend a little bit more on one of our watches, but you can be assured that it is in the best restored condition possible. Watches are pretty much like anything else; you only get what you pay for.
