The Elgin National Watch Company at Elgin, Illinois was the world's largest and most prolific watch manufacturer and they held forth for over 100 years.  We are very fond of the brand and we here at Father Time see a good many Elgin watches that were made over the 100 years that they were in business. In almost every instance, we can restore these wonderful timepieces to the timekeeping ability that Elgin originally intended them to have... a testament to their quality. Elgin can certainly be proud of what they accomplished because, they had an excellent product that has stood the test of time.

This particular Lord Elgin, "The Corisican", model is from the "Art Deco" period (circa 1921) and it has the slim profile that had just been introduced at that time. Previously, pocket watches were so large that they were called "turnips" by their owners. That is not the case here. This watch has a silvered metal dial with gilded "Deco" style Arabic numerals and a seconds bit at the 6 o'clock position that shows the passing of the seconds. The gold hands have the "kite" outline that give them distinction, echoing the numeral gilding. The case is 14k solid white gold with a very fancy moire pattern on the reverse and fancy engraved case lid edges. It measures 44mm in diameter, by 56mm (to the top of the bow), by 10mm thick (including the crystal). Most solid gold watches, like this one, have beautiful, high-grade movements and this one is no exception. It houses a 21 jewel movement with eight adjustments that is one of Elgin's best.

This beauty can be yours. Remember all of our pocket watches come with our famous one year warranty for parts and labor, so that you may buy with confidence.
